Black Warriors: The Buffalo Soldiers of World War II is a seminal book about the “Greatest Generation.” Its focus is on the “Black Warriors,” the largely unsung African American men of the U.S. Army’s segregated 92nd Division, also known as the famed “Buffalo Soldiers,” who fought and gave their lives in defense of freedom. Ivan J. Houston, nineteen at the time and now 84 years of age, is the author.
Black Warriors
For nine months until the German surrender in May 1945, the 92nd Division (the Buffalo Soldiers) fought the Nazis and the Italian Facists with honor, face to face in the villages and rugged mountains of Italy. In little known places as Ripafratta, the Serchio River Valley, Pietrasanta, Seravezza, Mount Cauala, and Pontremoli.
