Alumni and guests of the Haas School of Business reunited for a festive Homecoming day back on campus. The annual Haas Homecoming Celebration kiced off with "Black Warriors: The Buffalo Soldiers of WWII" presentation and book signing by Ivan Houston, Haas Class of 48. Haas then hosted a pre-game Tailgate Party in the Haas Courtyard for Haas alumni, students, faculty, staff, and guests. There are many memoirs of World War II but virtually none that are written by an African American participant who is able to offer his personal account of the war. Ivan Houston provides an almost day by day narrative of the 92nd ( Buffalo ) Infantry Division which fought in Italy . He narrates a fascinating history of the military actions against the Germans, and African Americans’ daily battles in a Jim Crow army. It is a very useful addition to the other histories of Black soldiers. This book is an excellent source for anyone interested in World War II and African American history. Dr. Ronald H.
